Out of Hours:

Please call the NHS 24 on 111 or access www.nhs24.com

Monday Late Surgery

On a Monday evening we have a surgery up until 7 pm which is available for anyone to access.

Workers' Surgery

This is a very popular clinic and is held on a Tuesday evening between 6 pm - 8 pm.  We realise the difficulty some people have making surgery times because of work commitments.  We hope that this extension of our normal working hours will enhance our continued commitment to the care of our patients.

Cancelling Your Appointment

If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone the surgery asap as someone else can use the appointment.

Accessibility and Appointments

appointmentsThe Practice is open from 8am-6pm Mon-Fri, however appointments are available until 7pm on a Monday and 8pm on a Tuesday for patients who work.

Surgeries generally run between 8.45am and 5pm.

We have late surgeries on a Monday from 6pm-7pm and on a Tuesday evening for workers from 6pm-8pm.

You must have an appointment to be seen and many of our appointments are now bookable on the day BUT please phone at 8am on the day you require the appointment.

We changed many of our appointments to booking on the day due to the high number of patients who book appointments in advance and then forget to come for their appointment.  If you do not require your appointment you MUST cancel your appointment as this could be given to someone else.

We do have some prebookable appointments if the Doctor or Nurse wants you to come back within a certain time.  Please tell the receptionist the Doctor wishes you to return and an appointment will be given.

There are also emergency appointments available every day.

Minor illness appointments (2 years and over)

Sister Keegan is now qualified to examine, diagnose, and prescribe for any of the conditions below.  She can see and treat any patients who may have:

  • Chest infection

  • Cough and cold

  • Sore throat

  • Sore ear

  • Urine infection

  • Well woman issues

  • Rash

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with Sister Keegan rather than a doctor.  Sister Keegan is qualified to deal with any of the above and you may be seen more quickly.

GENERAL INFORMATION

'Why does the receptionist need to ask what's wrong with me?'

It is not a case of the receptionists being nosey!

The reception staff are members of the Practice Team and it has been agreed that they should ask patients 'why they need to be seen'.

Reception staff are trained to ask certain questions in order to ensure that you receive:

  • The most appropriate medical care

  • From the most appropriate health professional

  • At the most appropriate time

RECEPTIONISTS ARE ASKED TO COLLECT BRIEF INFORMATION FROM PATIENTS:

  1. To help doctors prioritise house visits and phone calls.

  2. To ensure that all patients receive the appropriate level of care

  3. To direct patients to see the nurse or other health professional rather than a doctor where appropriate.

RECEPTION STAFF, LIKE ALL MEMBERS OF THE TEAM, ARE BOUND BY CONFIDENTIALITY RULES

  • Any information given by you is treated strictly confidential.

  • The Practice would take any breach of confidentiality very seriously and deal with this accordingly.

  • You can ask to speak to a receptionist in private away from reception

  • However if you feel an issue is very private and do not wish to say what this is then this will be respected.
